Every once and a while we realize that we don’t have many family photos so we set up the camera at our house and take a few pictures. Here are a few family shots from this day.

This New Year’s eve we were very happy to spend it with the Carpenter family. Ryan and Emily are great friends, Madeline and Mia are great friends, Mommy and Daddy are great friends with Emma and Mark. This made for a fun celebration!
We did the countdown at 8:00 (we pretended it was midnight) and had bubbly cider and some real drinks for daddy and Mark. The kids took some sparklers outside to have some fun to celebrate the New Year.

This is probably the first Christmas that Madeline knew what was going on. She pointed out Santa to me whenever she saw his picture and she also knew about the excitement of all of the gifts. I think Madeline was so excited that she couldn’t sleep on Christmas eve – she was up for three hours! She just didn’t want to sleep! Eventually she went to sleep and slept in quite late.
Once the day started Madeline was very excited to open all of the gifts. It was a very special day for her and us.

We had a nice pre-Christmas party on the 23rd for some friends. It was a pot luck dinner and we invited Ella (Ryan’s friend) and her parents over (Peter and Bosun) and Julia (Marcel and Lino’s). The kids had a blast and Madeline really feels like Ryan’s friends are her friends. Sometimes when Ryan runs away to play with his friends Madeline feels very sad and just wants to play with the girls. It’s kind of sad.
The kids exchanged some small gifts and had a blast opening them – kind of a preview of Christmas. Here are some photos from the party.
