Well, at this point Ryan must have been thinking that we could make a cake out of anything into any shape imaginable. We asked him what kind of cake he wanted for his birthday (at home) and he said a garbage truck. Not to be outdone, daddy made a garbage truck cake. In the end, it was done as manly as any cake I’ve ever seen –rough edges and frosting. But the spirit was there and Ryan loved it anyway!
It might seem like we went a bit cake crazy this year (and we did!). We were finally happy to not be working (both of us!) and bought some cake decorating tools at Marshalls so we decided to practice by making as many cakes as possible.
One of Ryan’s gifts this year was a cutout of all of the Thomas trains we could find. We went online and downloaded and printed out all of the trains from the website. We laminated them and cut them. I think, in the end, we made about 50 trains. Ryan loves them!
