Ryan is starting to talk a lot more and will now imitate us (if he’s in a good mood). I think he can say more words than I can remember –things like ‘chin, eyes, ears, hair, toes, boots, Santa, more, up, down, stairs, door, home, house’. We like to think that Ryan has a bit of a British accent – he really overemphasizes his words —star is staaaaar and moon is meewn, eyes are iiieeyes. I am sure this is normal for a lot of kids but it really is his own unique accent.
Ryan loves trying on my clothes and whenever he wants to go out, he’ll bring me either my shoes to put on or he’ll sit by the door and try to put his shoes on. The other day Ryan woke up at 5:15 and we were trying to put him back to bed and he resisted, finally I just went to bed and about 10 minutes later I was woken up by Ryan tugging on my arm holding his boots. It was pretty cute.
If it sounds like Ryan has been getting up a lot at night, well, he has. We aren’t sure what he is going through but it isn’t fun. He is getting up at least once a night or waking up super early. The other night Ryan woke up around 2 am and I looked out the window and saw a pretty awesome display of the Northern Lights. Of course I was too sleepy to even think of trying to capture it on film. Well, the very next night I was taking Ryan for a walk (of course, it gets dark here at about 4:30 so we have plenty of darkness). Ryan pointed up to the sky and was saying “Wooow! Wow! ohhh. Wow!’ I thought he was just practicing his talking until I looked up and saw a green light.
Tonight, when we were getting Ryan ready for bed we decided to put him in his new PJs. He absolutely loves them and was running around trying to show them to us or check it out in the mirror. Lately, it’s been hard to get a good picture of Ryan because he usually runs at the camera to see what kind of picture you just took, even if you haven’t taken it yet.
You can see in the background that we have decorated our home for Christmas…time to get festive now!
Oh yeah, one more thing. Ryan went to the mall yesterday to meet Santa – he was pretty shy and only really felt comfortable when he was about 5 feet away. He loved waving to him in a sort of timid way. Hopefully, over the next few weeks he will be more interested in sitting on Santa’s lap. We’ll keep telling him all about Santa and reading lots of Christmas stories so he gets to know Santa and all his gift giving ways!
