Mother’s Day

It’s that time of year again.  We need to try and show how much mommy means to all of us in one day.  Ryan decided to make another mug for mommy and painted a picture for her.  Madeline gave mommy a painted hand print.  It was quite special.

The kids also tried to make the day as relaxing as possible for mommy (but that’s not really possible).  Regardless, everyone tried their best to show the love they have for mommy!

Madeline learns to go down the stairs

One of the fears of living on a two floor apartment is having your child fall down the stairs.  We installed gates on both side of the stairs to make sure Madeline didn’t have the chance to fall.  As Madeline is a very determined girl she really wanted to learn how to go down the stairs by herself.  Here is a video of one of her first attempts.

Madeline’s First Birthday!!

It was such a big day for us.  It was Madeline’s birthday, it was Easter, it was Baba’s birthday – it was lots of fun.  Madeline woke up to a small Easter egg hunt and a gift from the Easter bunny.  After that it was breakfast time and time for Ryan to get up.  The whole house was decorated with balloons and streamers – it was party central!

We wanted to throw a nice party for Madeline so we decided to invite over our friends for dinner who had a daughter (Mia) who is two weeks younger than Madeline.  She is probably Madeline’s closest friend for now.  Ryan is also very good friends with Mia’s sister Emily

Madeline’s big gift for her birthday was her very own kitchen.  This was a bit difficult to wrap so we built it the night before and covered it with a blanket.  Here are a few photos of her opening it!

For dinner we had Madeline’s favorite meal – spaghetti with daddy’s homemade bread.  Then it was time for the cake – we made a chocolate cake (homemade, of course) with lots of fruit and whipped cream. YUMMY!!
Here are some photos of Madeline eating her cake!

Easter

Easter happened to come on Madeline’s birthday this year so it was a little confusing for us how much time to spend on Easter with her.  We already had lots of plans for her birthday so we just had a small Easter egg hunt for her in the morning – hiding the eggs in only the places she played.
