What is one of the great things as a mother when having a daughter? Dressing up your kids! When Grace was in Hawaii she bought a matching dress with Madeline. Here they are posing in it!

It has become a tradition to celebrate New Year’s Eve with the Carpenter family. The kids look forward to drinks and music (juice and crazy kids songs). They also love the sparklers that we let them hold outside.
On this particular New Year’s Eve we had a few drinks and the kids had their equivalent -sugar. Here they are partying to Gangam Style. Maddie puts on some great moves in the video below!

We finally decided to give Madeline her very first haircut. For whatever reason, this was a tough,long-dragged out decision for mommy. Mommy loves everything about Madeline’s hair and didn’t want to do anything to change it. However, Madeline’s hair has grown so much and since she doesn’t really enjoy putting her hair in pig tails or pony tails, her hair has been getting in her face quite a bit. Surprisingly though, Madeline has never been annoyed by her hair going everywhere (she actually likes it).
Anyway, we were supposed to schedule a haircut for her about a month ago, and Ryan convinced Madeline out of it by saying “Madeline, if you cut your hair, you are going to lose your power”. Haha…they’ve been watching too much of Tangled (princess Rapunzel), I guess.
Just like Ryan for his first haircut, we decided to take Madeline to a kids’ haircut place called Melonheads for a fun experience. She got dressed up in a pretty dress (of course) and got to sit in a pink riding toy and watch a show while getting a haircut. Heaven!!! Then, the stylist braided her hair and sprayed sparkles all over her hair. She really felt like princess for sure and made mommy and daddy promise her that she wouldn’t have to wash her hair that night to keep her braid and sparkles.

We had such an awesome Christmas this year. Santa gave some great gifts and the kids opened lots of present and had lots of treats. Here are the photos from the great day!

It is so rare for us to get measurable snow in Vancouver. Everyone from the East Coast must think we’re weird treating snow as a special event but for our kids here in Vancouver, it really is special. I took the kids sliding and built a snowman. The kids at kindergarten still had class but it was a free day to play in the snow – they had so much fun! Check out the photos and video.
