To be honest, at this point, Grace and I are pretty tired of birthdays.  By the time Ryan celebrates his birthday with his daycare friends, his official party and his real day party we are a little tired of cake.  Grace gets especially tired of cake because she thinks it will make her grow sideways.  Although she has nothing to worry about it still messes with her mind if she eats cake more than once a month…..so, for her birthday she didn’t want cake.  Who can have a birthday without cake?  Certainly our kids would have none of that.  We ended up compromising and Grace had a watermelon cake, with candles and all!

To celebrate her birthday she opened her gifts from the kids and then ate some watermelon cake.   We ate the whole thing…..and then we all had to go pee.

This time of year is always crazy for us – Madeline’s Birthday, Jasper’s Birthday, Ryan’s Birthday, Mommy’s birthday and Mother’s Day all within a month.  This all coincides with the end of the school year at UBC so things are always a bit crazy.  For this year’s Mother’s Day the kids made a little handmade flower for mommy.  It was difficult work and was done under the supervision of daddy which made things even more difficult then necessary.

One thing mommy always likes is to see daddy without his shirt so we did a special before and after shot for her.

I am posting these pictures because this is what we never get to see.  Both Madeline and Ryan love to argue and fight about everything.  On the slight chance that they happen to be getting along we grab our cameras and capture some cute shots.  On this day they were getting along

Daddy’s hockey team (Brews Brothers) had a really long playoff run this year.  Actually, we won the championship!

Madeline and Ryan loved coming to the games to watch.  Madeline would chant out ‘Daddy, Daddy’ whenever I was on the ice.  It was almost like she was making fun of daddy.  Regardless, it was great to have the kids out to watch the special night.  Here are some action shots from the big game!

At this point Madeline had  had enough cake, partying and feeling special with all of her parties  (actually, that’s not true at all).  It was time to tone down the whole birthday theme.  But….you can’t not celebrate a birthday on the actual birthday.  We did have a fun birthday party for Madeline and daddy had made cupcakes for daycare and had saved a few for after dinner.

Ryan loved being the big brother for his sister on this day and he was very sweet to her.  Here are a few photos of her opening some gifts and eating some cake.  Ryan spent his own money to buy Madeline a princess wand and some stickers…..sooo sweet!  Check out the video of her getting her cupcake at the bottom.
