While I was off touring the East Coast mommy had to stay home and take care of both kids.  That’s not an easy task!  The challenge is how to entertain Ryan while taking care of Madeline.  One idea Grace had was to take Ryan to the gym to run off some of that energy.

It was quite a surprise for her when Ryan got up and showed her just how much of a monkey he really is!

It was a successful year at our garden.  Actually, we were kind of lucky and picked up a rogue garden that someone had forgotten about.  We certainly had lots of food and the biggest disappointment would have to be the tomatoes – next year we will have no choice but to cut back on tomatoes – they just don’t grow well in BC, nothing like Ontario.

In the end, Ryan had a blast growing vegetables – we went by the garden almost daily to check on things.

It was a beautiful Saturday morning and we decided to head down to Granville Island to relax.  There are so many interesting things to do on Granville Island – the worst part of it all is that it is always crowded.  Well, today we kind of lucked out –either that or we arrived early enough to beat the crowds.

The morning started off with Ryan practicing to be a fireman.

The day continued with us calling my former student Llowyn up to see if he was working the ferries.  He was!!  He invited us to go for a ride on the boat.  After getting caught up on news he invited Ryan to drive the boat.  Check out the video!  The funny thing about it is this is a public taxi boat….people are paying money to go on these rides.  I am sure they don’t expect a 3 year old to be riding the boats!

After our trip to the East Coast we came back hoping to still make it back in time to pick some blueberries.  Daddy did some research and found a few u-picks and decided to check them out.  On our first trip Ryan came, and spent most of the time stuffing his face – check out the funny video!!

I did not expect these blueberries to be nearly as yummy as they are.  I rank them amongst the best blueberries I have ever eaten.  I decided to go back the next day to pick some more but the guy didn’t answer his phone so I went to another upick.  I stayed there for about 5 minutes.  These blueberries were basically growing in trees!  They were so high I was never going to pick anything there.  I left and called the original upick and he answered.  I drove over there and picked as many blueberries as I could……37 pounds in 50 minutes!!!    Not only are these the best blueberries ever  -they are the easiest to pick!
