First Snowstorm of 2010

This year Jack Frost came early in Vancouver.  Every year we tend to get a snowstorm or two – nothing to write home about but this year the first snowstorm of the year ended up being quite something.  We did have some snow the years past but as far as Ryan was concerned this was all new.

He was very excited to wake up and see the snow – actually the night before we saw lots of snow falling but it would all melt before it could stick to the ground.  In the morning we woke up to about 4 inches and it looked great.  It was really clean looking outside and the snow was quite fluffy.

Grace had a doctor appointment early in the morning and we were in quite a rush – but we couldn’t miss an opportunity to go out and play in the snow.  Here are some photos and a video of Ryan’s reaction of his first few moments in the snow.

Our weekend getaway to Whistler

Every year in November daddy takes a fun gig working with a local high school string program on their yearly weekend camp to whistler.  2 Daddy has always enjoyed this weekend and ends up bringing the family with him.  They put us up in a nice hotel fully equipped with a kitchen, living room and 2 bathrooms.  They also provide us with lots of food.  In the end it isn’t too much work for daddy and we try to make it into a vacation.

This year we arrived early and tried to go to the community centre for some swimming.  This community centre rocked!  They have an enormous kids pool that is heated – it was a blast for Ryan!  The next day we were able to go out for a nice dinner at the Spaghetti Factory where the meal always ends up with a bowl of Spumoni ice cream (Ryan’s favourite).

After our dinner we went home and had a fire and roasted some marshmallows (a first for Ryan).  We took some photos and one of the photos ended up being our cover for our Christmas card (which I am sure you will all get!)

Trick or Treat!!

After much anticipation – the big event of Halloween has arrived.  We were unsure how many homes we could visit but it ended up being a big success.  It was planned ahead of time for Ryan to go trick or treating with his friend Mika (who lives on the 2nd floor of our building).  Daddy tried hard to take part in the Halloween spirit by dressing up.  Let’s just say that it was an interesting costume….

Ryan was very excited for to go trick or treating.  The forecast was for rain but we got lucky and avoided any rain.  Actually about 1 hour after trick or treating we had a huge downpour of rain so we really did get lucky.

Ryan and Mika had a blast and visited way more houses than we ever expected.

Halloween!!

The big day finally arrived.  In preparation for the big night of trick or treating mommy, daddy & Ryan went to a drop in arts & crafts.  We had gone to a pretty good one the weekend before which was pretty awesome.  This drop-in was very lame.  We ended up staying 10 minutes.  We took some pictures out front of each of us trying to get Ryan to roar!!

After Ryan’s nap we took Ryan to our community centre which was awesome.  There were tons of people outside and the whole inside was decorated!  Ryan, mommy and daddy ended up going through a haunted room which was quite fun.  You can’t tell from this picture because it was very dark in the room (we used a flash for this photo) so this pic doesn’t capture the true awesomeness of the decorations.

After the haunted room we ended up playing around outside and Ryan met up with one of his good friends from daycare (Oliver).  Ryan ended up wanting to hide in the bushes like a real tiger and Oliver was trying to chase him.  It was pretty funny to see Ryan acting like a tiger in the bushes!

After our little outing at the community centre it was time to eat some dinner and start preparing for trick or treating.  Daddy hadn’t trimmed his fake moustache from his outfit yet so we got busy with our preparations!  With some of the leftover moustache Ryan wanted to see what it would look like with a moustache.  It was pretty funny!

Getting ready for Halloween

Halloween is a lot of fun – not only for Ryan but for Mommy and Daddy.  In preparation for Halloween, Mommy & Ryan went to the apple festival for some fun.  At the apple festival Mommy & Ryan found some fun pumpkins and Ryan wanted to pose on a few of them.  Check out the photos!

Also, at Canada Goose (Ryan’s daycare) they had a Halloween party where everyone came dressed up in their costume.  Ryan showed up in his tiger outfit and I was able to get a few photos.   Many of the kids hadn’t arrived when Daddy took the photos so their aren’t many shots but here is a shot of Ryan & Audrey and Ryan & Arianna.
