Happy Thanksgiving (Canadian)

It is nice for us to start building our own traditions with Ryan.  This year we decided to do a bigger party for Thanksgiving.  We also tried to make some Thanksgiving arts and crafts for Ryan.  As you might already know we were lucky to get our own garden plot on the university campus and even though we were given the garden in mid-August we were still lucky enough to grow some food.

Part of our Thanksgiving dinner included a salad – everything was from our garden.    Looks pretty yummy!!

We also cooked some sweet potatoes, scalloped potatoes, squash.   We also had some chicken and some cranberry sauce.   The dinner ended with some awesome pumpkin pie with ice cream (unfortunately, the pie wasn’t homemade)

Mira’s Birthday Party

One of daddy’s colleagues (Dorothy) has a daughter who invited Ryan to her birthday party.  We haven’t really hung out with Mira very much but after this party Ryan has started recognizing her as she goes to the daycare next door to Ryan.

Daddy and Ryan decided to both dress up in cowboy boots for the party.  Daddy has a pair of cowboy boots from his last visit to Texas about 15 years ago and daddy bought Ryan a pair of cowboy boots when he was in Montana on tour this past March.  Ryan was very eager to pose for some photos.

It was pretty cool getting to Dorothy and Paolo’s place as they live right behind where Ryan goes to daycare.  We actually parked at daycare to go to the party.  It was kind of funny because Ryan really thought we were taking him to daycare on a Saturday morning.

At Mira’s birthday party Anna (from Ryan’s music together class) was invited to be the main entertainment.  Ryan danced and had a great time with the music.

Community Centre Annual Party

Close to where we live (across the street) is our neighborhood’s community centre.  This place is called the Old Barn – it is brand new but many many years ago it used to be an old barn.  They tore it down and built a brand new community centre in its place which looks very similar to the old barn that used to be there.

Once a year they throw and awesome party to celebrate their existence.  I think it is just an excuse to party but they do throw an awesome party.  They have live music, lots of free food and this year they had one of those dunk me in the water if you hit the bull’s-eye.  They also had one of those things that you hit with a huge hammer to make the bell ring.  At the end of the party Ryan insisted on trying to make the bell ring.  The guy that ran that thing couldn’t believe that Ryan was the one that wanted to try.  It was pretty cute – he tried about 5 times!  I was just impressed that he could life the hammer and actually hit it.

Also, at the party this year they had a huge fire truck which Ryan was lucky enough to drive.

What would  a party be without some ice cream?

Our trip to the zoo in Vancouver

Well, we finally made it to the Vancouver Zoo.   It really isn’t all that exciting – don’t get me wrong, we had fun and it was good.  It is just hard to compare it to a real zoo (like the Los Angeles zoo).  Regardless, we saw lots of cool animals and had a lot of fun.

We have a funny video of some goats.  Grace thought the goat sitting in the box was giving birth –that was pretty funny.  Here’s the video:

Ro-Z

You might be wondering what kind of title this is for a blog posting.  You might also think that we’ve gone a bit bonkers or crazy.  Well, we have!

Ro-Z is a nickname for Rosie which is Caillou’s sister’s name.   You would know this if you read Caillou (which I know many of you do or have in the past).  Anyway, when Ryan found out that mommy was pregnant we wanted to give a nickname to the baby and we came up with Rosie.  We have no idea the sex of the baby yet but are fine with the Ro-Z nickname for now.  Personally, I prefer Ro-Z just in case it is a boy – it is a bit more manly and hip(?)

This is a strange way to announce Grace’s pregnancy but like I said, we’re a bit bonkers out here on the West Coast!

Grace is due in early April in case you were wondering.
