Dance Dance Revolution

Ryan loves to dance.  There is nothing more we can say.  We can hum a tune and he’ll dance or he’ll even dance when my cell phone rings.

He loves to put one hand up in the air when he dances – we have no idea why.  Actually, he just loves putting his hands up in the air.  So, we were playing his music today and wanted to see if he would shake the rattle along to the music.

What a week!

The last week and a bit has been really crazy for us.  Ryan woke up about last Wednesday and was sick.  He threw up a few times at night so we were up for most of the night.  Then for the next 3 days Ryan vomited from his ass like only he can.  We kid you not – at least 20 diapers a day.

The next day daddy felt a bit funny and then came down with the same stomach flu.  It was very nasty!  I had to leave the next day to adjudicate so I was kind of freaked out that I was going to have to cancel but within 24 hours I was feeling better and on a plane.

After returning from Kamloops we had a day or 2 of normalness.  Other than the fact that Ryan has forgotten how to sleep through the night.  Then, he comes down with a random fever for the last 2 days (hovering a bit above 100) so not too bad but enough to keep us concerned.  Tonight he seemed like he was having a blast but when I check his temperature or touch his head – there is no doubt that he is running a fever.  Regardless, he is eating a ton and seems fine so we’ll give it another day before calling up the doctor.

We don’t have many new photos or videos because Ryan won’t let us.  Whenever he sees the camera he runs to it which ruins the shot or video.  He is somewhat obsessed with the camera.  Hopefully, he will get over it.  Here are some recent pictures that we were able to take.

Ryan loves ‘Hands Up in the Air’

Can you dance?

Ryan has been taking some music classes for babies.  It is a very cool class – I’ve been to it a few times and Ryan really seems to love it.  We have been noticing how Ryan has started responding to music.  Just today I played the violin for him and he loved it – he tried to climb up me to get closer to the violin.

When we were down in LA we noticed that Ryan was dancing whenever music was being played –even to the ABC song on one of his toys.  It was pretty funny and we had some good laughs.  Today we put on one of Ryan’s favourite music CDs and he started grooving to the beat.

We have 2 videos for you to see.  One is of Ryan grooving to the beat and the other is Ryan doing an interpretive dance.  Check out his foot work in the 2nd video (and how he gets all musical during the improvised sounding guitar solo).

Watch me groove the beat! watch my footwork!

Walk walk walk your boy…

Yup, the last few weeks have involved lots of walking Ryan around.  He loves it when you hold his hand and help him walk.  Little does he know how hard it is on daddy’s back.  Sometimes I wonder if Ryan just wants to skip the walking stage and go to running.

Here are a couple of videos of Ryan trying to get the walking down.  It’s a fun stage.

Radio Flyer

On our trip to L.A. we wanted to buy a push-car for Ryan as a special treat.  We had bought one a few weeks ago to help Ryan with his walking (you can check out our older posts to see it).  We didn’t like the other one – it sucked as a walker (Ryan kept slipping on it as it rolled when he was trying to stand up).  And it wasn’t that great as a car, either.

We did some research and came up with wanting to purchase a Radio Flyer car for Ryan.  When we bought the car (and put it together in the hotel room) Ryan loved it.  From the moment he sat down he grabbed the steering wheel and started pretending to drive.  What I don’t understand is how he knew to do that – was it instinct or did he watch us drive before?  I don’t think he’s seen us drive much as he faces the other way in the car…hmm, interesting.

We have some pictures and a video for you to check out.

My new car!! Watch me drive this thing!!
