Baba’s first visit!

Last week we had a great visit from Baba.  She stayed for almost a week so we had lots of time to visit and get caught up on things.  It was at the same time as the ending of YAE (Young Artist Experience) so mum came to those closing concerts.

Ryan was very good when he first met Baba and was never really shy with her.  He was also on good behavior for most of the time that she was here.

We went out to some great restaurants and mum even cooked a few meals for us.  We had some Malaysian, Thai, and Japanese food.  On Saturday we all went to the Aquarium and saw a really cool Dolphin show.   Baba was very interested in the Beluga baby that was born in the end of June.

Baba gave some cute books to Ryan which he is really enjoying and Baba also taught Ryan some new words which he is using all of the time now.  One of the words that Ryan really came to use a lot when Baba was here was “JUICE” which he loves having with his breakfast.  Check out how obsessed he is with the word in this short video.

We discovered that Ryan had 3 new molars coming in.  This photo was supposed to capture them but his tongue was in the way.  That brings his tooth count to 11!

Ryan meets David Jalbert

The first week of YAE (Young Artist Experience) started with a blast and David Jalbert was one of our guest artists. It was great to have him here in Vancouver. Jasper and David played lots of tennis and hung out quite a bit. Ryan was great hanging out with David and felt comfortable almost from the start.

It was a bit of a tough week for Ryan because daycare said that he had ‘red eye’. They said that he had some stuff coming out of his eyes (gooey eyes). We took him to the doctor and she couldn’t say if it was red eye or not because he had no goo at the time. Regardless, she gave us a prescription and when I tried to fill it we realized that the prescription was in my name. This made things kind of difficult but in the end the pharmacist filled out prescription. While we were waiting for the prescription to be filled David and Ryan were running around the Superstore having a blast! It was really funny to see.

Here are some photos from that week.

Check out Ryan’s bedtime routine

Ryan isn’t always like this.

I just wanted to start this blog off with a disclaimer.  He can be an angel at bedtime.

Anyway, today he woke up from his nap at around 130.  This means that he would normally pass out before 8pm.  He gave every indication that he was sleepy – the long yawns and the rubbing of the eyes.  Anyway, as I was putting Ryan down in his crib I turned around to pick up a few things and when I turned back around he literally said ‘BOO!’  He freaked me out – no, I wasn’t scared.  But it wasn’t what I expected.  So, of course, I looked startled which made him laugh.  And, not thinking clearly, I said “boo!” back.

ok…that was the end of his bedtime routine.

Now, Ryan had just discovered his new favourite thing!!  He started running around like crazy in his crib and started ‘boo’-ing at me.  It was pretty funny.  Well, after about 10 minutes, it wasn’t so funny anymore.  At this point, I had already learned my lesson.  I was done ‘boo’-ing for the night.  So, rather than force Ryan down I grabbed my camera and wanted to show mommy how Ryan behaves when she leaves Daddy to put Ryan to bed.

I took Ryan out of the crib and decided to let him roam around the living room.  In the end, Ryan went to bed about an hour late but went down without even a fuss.

Check out the video.  Also, note how blurry he is in the picture – that’s how fast the boy was running around!

Meow!

It goes without saying that Ryan’s favorite word these days is Meow.  He can tell the difference between a lot of animals and points out every time a dog passes by.  He also knows about a horse, lion, giraffe, elephant and a few others.  Sometimes, if the dog kind of looks like a cat – he will meow but he really does know about cats!

Grace and I love the way he meows too.  He leaves his mouth open for at least a second or two after he meows.  The only problem is that he won’t let us capture it on tape – maybe he knows how badly we want it on tape because we are scared that he will outgrow this phase before we can capture it.  Regardless, I was able to get a meow or two on tape before he runs after the camera.

Here the mighty boy ‘meow’

Spaghetti monster

The past few days Ryan hasn’t been eating very well.  He was sick at the beginning of the week but his appetite just hasn’t returned.  We’re not worried but he isn’t the little voracious eating machine he usually is.  That was until tonight.

I made some spaghetti for myself and decided to give it to Ryan for dinner.  He went nuts.  I was thrilled to see the little voracious eating machine return.

Mommy wasn’t home so daddy was allowed to let Ryan get a bit messier than normal.
